Friction with charity shops

I found that a lot of people would go to charity shops often in my primary research but they wouldn't buy stuff nearly as often as they would struggle to find something they liked or something similar to what they were looking for without going into lots of charity shops and using up a lot of unnecessary time.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

OVERVIEW

There are a few competitors for this kind of app like Depop, Vinted & Thrift+ but they are all more focused on being an online store whereas thriftr is helping people find charity shop items in there near location and does not offer a service to buy and sell them like these other apps.

My aim was to make a simply designed app that allows users of any age and demographic to use the app to find charity shop items to help with this I have taken heavy UI inspirations from pre existing app to make it easier for less tech savvy people to use as I dont want the app to be inaccessible

I looked into a lot of topic for my research, I looked into companies like depop and vinted becoming more popular in recent years and second hand shopping being extremely popular amongst the younger generation.

I looked into fast fashion and its effects on the market the best way to reduce textile waste is preventing it from being made followed by reuse and recycling is after that but buying second hand in itself prevents clothes from being bought new and there more people who shop second hand the less clothes need to be made

The problem is charity shops having to throw away a 3rd of there clothes due to over donation. with landfill growing and textile waste becoming a huge problem this simply is not sustainable. Thriftr will be my attempt at a solution.

Thriftr Is a mobile app that allows your to view charity shops inventory this is to try and help combat textile waste by helping charity shops market there stock so they dont get over run with items and have to throw clothes away.
